What We Do

We are a premium R&D tax and capital allowances advisor to all sectors and sizes of clients.

We combine tax expertise with real engineering and scientific experience to prepare robust, defensible claims. Our clients work directly with experienced advisers throughout the process, receiving a senior-led service built around technical rigour, commercial understanding and attention to detail.

Senior Delivery Team: We believe experienced advisers add significant value to the technical assessment of claims. That's why senior members of our team remain actively involved throughout any engagement.

Technology: We augment our processes with secure technology and AI tools, leveraging the benefits of the technology whilst retaining the judgement of specialist senior consultants.

Ethical commitment: Reputation and our code of ethics are paramount to everything we do at BCP. We stand behind our work and provide full support in the event of an HMRC compliance check, at no additional cost.

What Clients Say

We’ve now worked with BCP for two years, and the process has been consistently efficient. That’s partly because they have taken the time to truly understand our business, but also because of how well they operate as a team. They’re proactive, personable, and skilled at extracting the right information from our Project Directors to build a robust, defensible claim. It’s a pleasure to work with them all.

Our Services

R&D incentives provide companies carrying out eligible activities with a tax credit that can reduce the company's tax liabilities and, subject to the applicable statutory payment and offset rules, may result in a cash payment.

For accounting periods beginning on or after 1 April 2024, the merged R&D Expenditure Credit (RDEC) provides eligible companies with a taxable credit of 20% of qualifying R&D expenditure.

Loss-making R&D-intensive SMEs may instead qualify for Enhanced R&D Intensive Support (ERIS). Subject to the relevant conditions, this can provide a benefit equivalent to up to approximately 27% of qualifying R&D expenditure.

Full R&D Claim Preparation

Our full-service approach takes care of the majority of the claim preparation process, including a full review of your company's qualifying expenditure, Claim Notification Form (CNF) if required, technical reviews of projects, production of the full R&D report documentation, the Additional Information Form (AIF) submission, and defence as standard.

Our process flexes depending on the size and complexity of your company and claims.

Feasibility/R&D Claim Review

If you have already prepared an R&D claim, either in-house or with an external advisor, we would be happy to provide a free health check to determine if you are claiming to the full allowable amounts per the R&D guidelines and legislation. We can also identify potential areas of risk within existing R&D claims and advise on whether corrective action or disclosure to HMRC should be considered. Where appropriate, making an unprompted disclosure may help to mitigate potential penalty exposure.

Capital Allowances

Capital allowances provide tax relief for qualifying capital expenditure, including expenditure on certain plant, machinery, equipment and property fixtures. Depending on the nature of the expenditure, businesses may be able to claim relief through the Annual Investment Allowance, full expensing, first-year allowances, writing-down allowances and other relevant regimes. Where a company is loss-making, capital allowances may increase the tax losses available for relief, subject to the applicable corporation tax loss-relief rules.

Full CA Claim Preparation

Our full service for Capital Allowances consists of reviewing your current policies for capturing assets and reviewing these against the relevant allowances available to you. Our preference is to undertake a full on-site inspection of the potential claimable expenditure in order to analyse your assets correctly. Following our on-site review, we provide our clients with a full report detailing the appropriate treatment of the allowable expenditure for inclusion in the company's corporate tax returns.

Feasibility/CA Claim Review

Should you have already submitted a Capital Allowances claim, we can review and analyse the submission in order to determine if the claim was fully maximised or analysed correctly. Our specialist quantity surveying and tax review can identify qualifying expenditure that may have been overlooked in previous analyses.

HMRC Support

We respect you may have already made R&D or Capital Allowance claims and these may have been queried by HMRC. We have extensive experience working with HMRC to agree claims based on being proactive and transparent with them.

As such, if you are experiencing a compliance check we can provide advice on navigating HMRC's queries and advise you on the basis of your claims in order to satisfy them.
